Urgent help for eleven-year-old Rickson

This is the story of 11-year-old Rickson, who has been bravely battling hydrocephalus (water on the brain) since birth. When Rickson was just three days old, a shunt was inserted into his brain to equalise the pressure. This allowed little Rickson to lead a healthy, happy life for eleven years. Recently, however, he became seriously ill and suffered from severe headaches, vomiting, blurred vision and weakness. Doctors discovered that his shunt had suddenly become blocked, putting dangerous pressure on his brain. Rickson needed urgent surgery to replace the blocked catheter. Although the operation helped to stabilise him, his family is now struggling to cover the high costs of the emergency surgery, aftercare and ongoing monitoring.

We are raising funds to support his recovery and help his family, and to give Rickson the chance of a normal, healthy childhood. Any support – large or small – can make a life-changing difference. With the recognition of Antoniushilfe e.V. as a non-profit organisation now also in Pakistan, the state is covering half of the costs incurred, which currently amount to around €6,000. We would like to thank those responsible in the Pakistani government and hope for the support of our friends and helpers in paying the outstanding costs. Our association feels jointly responsible for little Rickson, as he is a half-orphan and one of our children from Lahore.
